Sclerotherapy
Spider veins are enlarged superficial blood vessels that show through the skin in thin red or blue lines, ranging from barely noticeable to large, unattractive patterns. They are often associated with varicose veins.
Sclerotherapy is a proven treatment method for both varicose and spider veins. Performed in the office,
no anesthesia is needed. A sclerosing solution is injected into the blood vessels with a very fine needle. The solution irritates the vessel lining, causing it to swell and stick together, and the blood to thicken. Over time, the vessel becomes scar tissue, which is then absorbed, eventually fading from view.
